Request a Police Report


The Records Bureau ensures accuracy, completeness, and expedient recovery of Police Department documents and records.

The bureau is responsible for:
  • Preparing and maintaining a variety of automated and manual logs, records, reports, and files related to police services and activities.
  • Distributing police reports.
  • Responding to requests from insurance companies, probation officers, attorney’s offices, and other agencies.
  • Assisting the public with obtaining copies of police reports.
Copies of Approved Releasable Reports
  • First five pages are free. Then $0.20 each page after the 5th.
All reports are available after 10 business days of the initial incident. The persons requesting reports must submit a request form and present a picture I.D. The records unit will contact the requester when the report is available for release. Per G.C. 6253(c), the department has 10 days to decide whether the record is releasable or not.

Reports are not public property, and they will be released only to those persons with a right to have them.

Vehicle Releases
  • Released to the registered owner (RO) or their agent (with "original" notarized letter indicating specific agent who will be picking up the vehicle along with a detailed description of the vehicle – make, model, license plate number, etc.).
  • Registered owner or agent must possess valid driver’s license, proof of ownership, and current registration per CVC 22651(o)(p)(i).
  • Hours: Vehicles can be released 24 hours a day - 7 days a week
  • Release fees - Impound- $130.00; Arrest Non DUI - $130.00; DUI - $160.00.
  • Vehicle Repossessions: $15.00 fee
Photographs will be released to appropriate parties only for a fee of $5 per photo and $25 for photos on CD must be received prior to ordering.
Property Release
Performed by the Detective Bureau by appointment only, call 626-300-0720.
Traffic Citation Verification of Equipment Repair
  • Performed by an on-duty police cadet or police officer
  • $30 administrative fee per citation in addition to any fees payable for the violation listed on the citation.
Criminal Clearance Letters
We do perform local criminal history record checks for those individuals who require it for travel or visa purposes:
  • Processed only for persons of record - Residents Only
  • Must have picture ID
  • $50 fee
  • Prepared by the Records Supervisor
Subpoenas - Civil & Criminal
Subpoenas for records should be served to the custodian of records. Civil subpoenas require a two week compliance period with no charge for the report, a $5 fee per photo, and a $15 fee per tape. Criminal subpoenas require a five day compliance period at no charge.
