This exciting yet physically challenging camp is designed for campers going into 4th through 8th grades. Campers travel a two mile radius on their bicycles from Lacy Park to local areas of interest including the San Marino High School Pool, food and snack places, as well as the arcade. Freewheelers will also enjoy a variety of weekly field trips (For weekly calendars visit the Recreation Office or ask the Freewheeler staff).
The Lunch Ride program is designed for students attending summer school who are registered in Camp Lacy. Upon dismissal from school, students meet the Recreation Staff at the Huntington Middle School Lunch Courts. Please note that each child must bring his/her own packed lunch. Lunch and activities are held at school until 12:30pm, when children board a safety-certified bus for transportation to Lacy Park. All participants are escorted by Recreation Staff to their respective programs. All participants must pre-register at the Recreation Office and have a on file.
In addition to the Lunch Ride Program, Campers (except Freewheelers) are also transported via bus to the San Marino High School Pool for recreational swim on the days specified for their individual camp. The same safety-certified bus company is utilized to transport the participants to all of the summers excursions and field trips (including Freewheelers).
Your child will be going to the San Marino High School Pool 2 to 3 times per week for recreational swim. Please consult with your camp counselors to find out exactly what days you will be going so you can plan accordingly. On swim days, your child should be prepared with water attire, a towel, and sunscreen. Prior to swimming, a release form from the parent is required.
Registration for Camp Lacy is accepted at the Recreation Office located at 1560 Pasqualito Dr. in San Marino. We currently do not offer telephone or online registration, due to various Emergency Forms, Transportation Forms, and Liability Forms that are required prior to the program commencing. Registration is accepted Monday – Thursday from 8am to 5pm at the Recreation Office only. Upon registration, participants are placed on a roster and the roster is forwarded to the Camp Supervisor to ensure that adequate staffing levels are met.
