Dear Residents and Community Members,

On behalf of the San Marino Police Department, we would like to advise you all of a few key elements involved with the 626GoldenStreets event to be held on Sunday, June 26, 2016 from (8am-2pm). Please be advised that Traffic Safety Construction Company (Right of Way) will be placing equipment and posting “No Parking” signs in the days (72-hours) leading up to the event. As a result, no vehicles will be permitted to park on the route beginning at midnight and/or on the morning of the event. Failure to remove the vehicle(s), may result in the vehicle being towed.

In an effort to assist all of our residents, we will not be enforcing the overnight parking restriction on the weekend of this event (June 25th-June 26th). However, all residents will be required to park on side streets and not on Huntington Drive or Garfield Avenue.

The J.P. Blecksmith Leadership Foundation (JPBLF) is pleased to announce the return of the 12th annual Memorial 5K run/walk fundraiser on Monday, July 4, 2016. The Foundation and 5K were created to perpetuate the legacy and honor the life and sacrifice of J.P. Blecksmith; marine 2nd Lieutenant who was killed in Fallujah, Iraq on November 11, 2004, while leading his Marines in support of Operation Phantom Fury.

Participants are encouraged to register for the 3.1 mile course through www.jpblecksmith.org Race day registration begins at 6:45 a.m. and the race starts at 8:00 a.m.

The majority of the event’s proceeds and other donations go to support a memorial scholarship fund established in J.P. Blecksmith’s honor at his high school alma mater, Flintridge Preparatory School in La Canada, California. In addition, proceeds can be used for any other similar charitable matter or organization to perpetuate and to honor the legacy of J.P. Blecksmith through public charitable works.

The inaugural J.P. Blecksmith Memorial 5K took place on July 4, 2005. Each year since then, this event has grown in participation and stature as it represents one of the only races held on the Fourth of July in the San Gabriel Valley.

For more information about the race or sponsorship opportunities, please contact marykgilbaugh@sbcglobal.net or alex.blecksmith@colliers.com or visit jpblecksmith.org

Illegal substance use and abuse, academic and social pressures, and mental health matters are REAL issues facing our students in San Marino. Our city and school leaders are here to help. This evening’s event will be an informative program where parents and educators can learn to identify the signs of at risk behavior, how to elicit information and speak with adolescents on sensitive subjects, and become informed about the available resources – both people and programs - that can be leveraged. Our key city leaders and educators are here to help us raise healthy, conscientious, and successful San Marinians. It takes a village... starting with awareness!
