2017 San Marino Local Hazard Mitigation Plan

All comments must be received no later than close of business Friday, November 3.

The City of San Marino is pleased to submit the City's 2017 Local Mitigation Plan (LHMP) for open public review and comment. The LHMP will be available for review beginning, Monday, September 18 through close of business Friday, November 3, 2017

The California Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) requires that the LHMP be reviewed, updated and submitted to for approval at least once every 3 years.  The City must have an approved LMHMP to maintain eligibility for State and Federal Hazard Mitigation grant programs. The LHMP’s list of hazards includes earthquakes, floods, fires and windstorms. It also addresses man-made hazards such as hazardous material accidents, gas pipeline ruptures, and homeland security threats. The purpose of the City’s LHMP is to identify long-term strategies, goals and objectives for reducing the impact of disasters. Community input is an important aspect of the planning process.

Residents and community stakeholders may review the plan on-line at http://www.ci.san-marino.ca.us. Copies are also available for review at San Marino City Hall located at 2200 Huntington Drive and the Crowell Public Library located at 1890 Huntington Drive .Comments or questions about the LHMP may be sent to sanmarinolhmp@gmail.com or by calling Laura Hernandez at 626-483-8111.

A public workshop is also scheduled for residents that may have questions or comments concerning the Hazard Mitigation Plan on October 24, 2017 at 6:00 PM in the San Marino Council Chamber.

The City’s LMHMP is a demonstration of the City’s commitment to reducing the impact of disasters. Public input and stakeholder participation in the planning process will help ensure the successful implementation of the City’s Local Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan and enable the City to be better prepared for future disasters.

Your time and participation is greatly appreciated! Together, we can build community resilience and sustainability for the City of San Marino!
